The ultimate travel hack for 3-8 year olds
The dreaded 4/4/4. Yes, the minimum requirements for the safe use of a booster is: 4yo/40”/40 lbs
If you’re like my son, Thomson, or most Americans really 😂, your child has a good chance of being over 4yo but under 40 lbs. The only safe thing to do is lug around your convertible car seat. (Argh). So we have heard about the ride safer travel vest for awhile through some friends but was always too lazy to do the research. Due to an upcoming cruise trip, the desire to travel even lighter than we’ve ever had before helped overcome the inertia.
We pulled the trigger on Amazon a few days ago and I must say - I’m impressed. The travel vest keeps him actually super snug in position with the seat belts adjusted properly. There’s no sliding around unlike the experience we had on mifold (with Emmy). It actually even fits kids 3 years and up with starting weight of 30 lbs (!!!) and height of 34”. Unlike mifold, the manufacturer actually published ALL their crash test results! This product is truly a game-changer. It has been reviewed extensively by other independent car seat blogs and also has a “A” authentic review rating on fakespot.com. Make sure to also watch their great fitting video.
And for those of you international travelers, get all the tips (and a checklist) on surviving long-haul flights with toddlers. You can do it!
